Castle Paffendorf is the starting point for a circular route through the multi-faceted energy environment of the Rhine-Erft region. At nine stations of 44 km, you get to know surface mining, land reclaiming and restoration, lignite processing, and power generation from lignite (brown coal), wind and solar energy.
By bicycle from Paffendorf, follow the blue signs with a the picture of a light bulb. If you are traveling by car you can reach the stations of the Road of Energy ("Strasse der Energie" in German) by close by parking places.
