Erft Cycle Trail - From source to mouth

The Erft River – a multifaceted experience: Cycle along stone-faced Roman ruins, defiant city fortifications, mighty castles from the Middle Ages, and splendid palaces from the glory days of Rhenish nobility.

You will witness a historic and moving industrial past that has shaped this landscape. Gigantic surface mining areas guide you through modern times on the way from Blankenheim to Neuss.
Starting from Bad Münstereifel, it's all the way downhill or flat through Cologne Bight to Neuss. Ride along the bicycle paths, paved roads and low-traffic roads, most of them near the river.

Three River Cruise - Rhine-Ahr-Erft

This tour takes you along the Rhine, Ahr and Erft rivers – variety to the max. Lively cities, such as Cologne and Bonn, offer numerous attractions and invite you to stay along the Rhine. You might just catch some of that Rhenish cheerfulness.

Start your journey in the Beethoven City of Bonn, where you can enjoy the romantic Rhine River with views of the Siebengebirge (Seven Mountains). Where the Ahr flows into the Rhine, you also turn into the red wine paradise of the Ahr Valley. The Ahr River meanders through one of the most beautiful mid-mountain regions of Germany. Follow the river upstream to its source on the ground floor of a half-timbered cottage in Blankenheim in the Eifel Mountains. Do not miss a wine tasting at one of the numerous wineries.

Finally, follow the Erft River from the Eifel Mountains out to the Rhine Valley. Along the way, many beautiful castles and manor houses from the glory days of Rhenish nobility are waiting to be discovered - great diversity on such a small space is rather unique. The recent history of the region, however, like gigantic surface mining areas, will also accompany you along the Erft River.
